Abstract
Hound is committed to creating a better, brighter future for the people of vet med and always putting people first. To do that, we must pay everyone, from the practice managers to client service reps, a livable and equitable wage.
In this report, we surveyed over 250 veterinary professionals across the U.S. (as well as a few respondents outside the states) on their total compensation, benefits, and whether they believe they make a livable wage.
This data was received over 3 months from March - June 2023 via our Veterinary Pay Repository, where veterinary professionals can anonymously input their compensation details. This repository is a living resource that is still accepting submissions.
Some Key Takeaways
- Across all positions, veterinary professionals feel, on average, they should be paid $15,471 more per year, which equates to an average of a 27.5% increase in annual pay.
- Across all support staff, only 10 respondents said they were “Very Comfortable” with their current wage and 39% of them said they were “Struggling.”
- Almost 2/3 of veterinarians still have non-competes in their contracts.
